Kannada on Ubuntu Breezy Badger - Update
There had been few discussions about the SCIM Issue and the rendering issues in Breezy with Kannada.
Here's another update apart from what has been discussed in the above links. The package "free-fonts" on Breezy causes some weirdo problems with Kannada rendering. The characters get garbled on gedit and almost all GNOME based applications.
Make sure you have uninstalled this particular package to get rid of that problem.
Hope this helps Ubuntu breezy users.

Patched Kannada (itrans) scheme for SCIM on Ubuntu, Fedora.
Friends,
Here's a patched version of kannada itrans input scheme for SCIM, m17n. (Find the file attached to this post). Here are the instructions to use it:
(Assuming that you've installed SCIM and m17n, m17n-db on your favourite Linux Distribution)
* Login as root (or use sudo, fakeroot or anything similar).
* Unzip the file to /usr/share/m17n/
Reboot by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Backspace.
Change Log:
The following letters have been re-mapped or added.
ಋ - Ru (changed - was previously RRi)
ೠ - RU (changed - was previously RRI)
ಳ್ಳು - LLu (added)
